COVID-19

We have made a lot of changes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic going on right now, and are still hard at work making sure we have the best balance of safety to club engagement.

With the university reverting back to phase one at the start of the spring semester, it currently isn’t feasible to hold in-person meetings. When the situation changes and regulations are lessened, we may hold some meetings and events in-person with modifications to ensure the safety of everyone.

Here is what is different and how we are adapting to the changing times:

  • Beta rocket kits will be picked up and worked on at home, with guidance via zoom

  • Beta planes will be working on foam gliders from home, with guidance via zoom

  • Larger focus on conceptual topics, rather than building

    • There will be virtual workshops given by AIAA members as well as members of the community, focusing on a wide range of topics from simulation to aircraft design.

    • More in-depth guidance with simulation software like OpenRocket and XFLR

  • Events that are usually held in-person will either be postponed or replaced with virtual events

    • Events like the camping trip are still tentatively scheduled, with extra safety measures in place

    • More virtual events like game or movie nights

All of our plans are still changing in response to the university and the local community. We hope to have as much fun as we have in previous years, while staying safe and changing things up. Keep an eye out for updates here, as well as on our Discord, social platforms, and email.

Stay Safe!
