Beta Rockets
The Beta Rocket Program is an excellent way for students to get a hands on experience with rocketry. To introduce students to rocketry we start you with a small kit rocket that you and several others build and launch. While this rocket is small, it familiarizes you with all of the terms and mechanics associated with rockets. Once this smaller rocket is finished and launched, students begin by simulating their larger beta rocket design, with the goal of one teammember getting a Level 1 Certification. Once the basic design has been simulated and approved by one of our rocket leads, students then pitch that design to the club via a PowerPoint presentation. This informs the club about the project, and also gives students a chance to practice their presentation skills. Once the project is approved, the kit is ordered, and it is then up to the student to build and customize the rocket. Once completed the rocket is flight ready! Launches happen every couple of months and typically happen in the middle of spring semester. Not only do you get to totally build and fly your own rocket, but you get to become certified to launch them by yourself! We have the ability to grant students with level one and level two high power rocketry certifications.
